You said that "When we think hard, brain levels of phosphocreatine can drop pretty acutely".

How much extra phosphocreatine does 3 grams creatine provide the brain? I would guess that, when thinking hard, it only provides a few minutes extra. Perhaps the mental benefits of creatine actually come from the increased cerebral blood flow, or something else.Kieferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09049160831174262970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3045634714760830992.post-58299834544069649312012-08-30T11:59:24.335-04:002012-08-30T11:59:24.335-04:00I'm not sure if this will get a response, thou...I'm not sure if this will get a response, though i really hope it does. My question revolves around former vegetarians hoping to re-establish an equilibrium with their brain in terms of creatine. The studies are roughly 1-2 months in length and supply roughly 5 grams creatine daily, right? Well that equates to 150-300 grams, roughly. Resuming regular meat eating for the average person might mean 1 pound of meat/week. This results in 2 grams/week, not taking heat degradation of creatine into account. It seems creatine supplementation would by wise in this scenario, no?Jack S.https://www.blogger.com/profile/17998651771971901436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3045634714760830992.post-67993135663191570902011-02-19T20:58:51.078-05:002011-02-19T20:58:51.078-05:00Excellent post. Not sure where I heard this, but I remember thinking that the source was reputable enough to recite it whenever it came up in conversation without further investigation. Do you know of any studies that confirm or deny this?Geoffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08509184330732763342noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3045634714760830992.post-43600590932615260822011-01-21T01:17:33.967-05:002011-01-21T01:17:33.967-05:00Suzie - I prefer to get nutrients from the source ...Suzie - I prefer to get nutrients from the source as much as possible, as skeletal muscle will not only have creatine, but carnosine, taurine, tryptophan, etc., however, supplementation for a vegetarian is an option.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04429177284200775781noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3045634714760830992.post-56747049103690840282011-01-20T05:18:34.082-05:002011-01-20T05:18:34.082-05:00Why not just take some supplemental creatine and s...Why not just take some supplemental creatine and save a few animals being killed? I feel like planning more, and taking action, rather than philosophizing for instance, or sitting and reading. Maybe something in meat, like the creatine, goes to different parts of the brain.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05678720294816251435noreply@blogger.com
